Just a quick update on the progress of charitable giving to the Post 134 Building Fund.
Since Giving Tuesday we have raised $26,800.00 towards the restoration of the Hall, which will allow us to re-open the building and further the Post Mission of, “Helping Veterans & Serving Our Community.” Post 134 is almost half way to the goal of $60,000.00 as a result of the generosity of our supporters!
Please remember that cash and checks can be deposited in the American Legion Post 134 Building Fund account at any Umpqua Bank Branch or by mailing your check to American Legion Post 134, 2104 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR 97211.
Please remember it is not too late to take advantage of the CARES Act above-the-line deduction for charitable giving, which allows tax payers to write off up to $300 in cash donations on their 2020 income tax return.
On 25 Novermber, the day after Giving Tuesday, IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig reminded all taxpayers that, “Our nation’s charities are struggling to help those suffering from COVID-19, and many deserving organizations can use all the help they can get.” He went on to say, “….there’s a new provision that allows for up to $300 in cash donations to qualifying organizations to be deducted from income. We encourage people to explore this option to help deserving tax-exempt organizations – and the people and causes they serve.”
Thank You!
Sincerely yours,
The Officers and Members of American Legion F&J Ravin Post 134
