“How War Affects Us” Oregon Humanities Series – Month 1

We had a great meeting with some amazing discussion. This was our first meeting for the six month long series on the wars our country has been fighting and how they affect us. The group included combat veterans of these current wars and Vietnam War veterans as well as civilians of multiple generations. Many of the participants are family members of combat veterans.

This month we discussed George Orwell’s essay “Shooting an Elephant” and Brian Turner’s poem “Here, Bullet.”
